| From 1955 through 1959, the Excelsior Amusement Park hosted "Axel Days" every summer. As this sign for the 1958 celebration indicates, the entertainment usually consisted of a stage show featuring the current crop of WCCO-TV children's characters, a costume parade, "prizes galore," and free rides. As many as 12,000 people thronged into the park during these events. | |||
