Axel Trading Cards
Axel Trading Cards are the most numerous
Axel memorabilia. These postcard-sized, black and white cards
featured a picture of Axel (often with his sidekicks Towser &
Tallulah or Carmen the Nurse), plus his "signature."
The cards were handed out to kids at personal appearances in
supermarkets, theaters, amusement parks, etc. Most of the cards
were produced by WCCO-TV; sometimes they were used to promote
a product, store, or event. There were at least twenty different
Axel trading cards, dating from about 1955 to 1965.
