| Axel postcard The Hiawatha Color Advertising Company printed this postcard in 1964. It pictures Axel in the full regalia of his latter-day costume: many of the medals on his chest were handmade by his young fans. The photo also gives us a rare glimpse of the Tree House in color and it's pretty weird color at that! As a joke for the cast and crew, set desiger Bill Dietrichson painted the scene in hallucinogenic blue with pink highlights. Viewers saw the program only in black and white, so it appeared to be perfectly normal and they were none the wiser. |
