Since the birthdays of Mary Davies and Clellan Card were both in June only a few days apart, Julie Moden and Carol Schaubach (the Presidents of the Axel and Carmen Fan Club) threw a birthday party for them in 1965.

No one knew it at the time, but it was Clellan's last birthday. On April 13, 1966, he died of cancer at the age of 62.
